Q.   What is DNA LifePrint™?
A.   DNA LifePrint™ was developed in August of 1998 as a DNA management kit and the "finger print of the 21st century" It is a product that brings leading edge DNA technology into the hands of lay people. Future generations have a better chance for a full healthy life by preserving their DNA ancestry in the DNA LifePrint™ Management Kit and it gives parents an infallible identification tool for their children.
     
Q.   Why was DNA LifePrint™ developed?
A.   DNA LifePrint™ was developed by Joe Matthews a 30-year police veteran and former supervisorin charge of the Miami Beach Homicide Division. After his lead detective work on the nationally-publicized "Baby Lollipop" case and Adam Walsh case, Matthews came to the realization that it is easier to find a missing or stolen automobile than a missing or abducted child. He also found that fingerprints are often unreadable therefore unreliable as a means of identification. He then retired from the Miami Beach Police and dedicated his efforts to create DNA LifePrint™ Management Kit.

A.   The footprints of a child taken at birth are of no value for identification purposes. Not only because they are unreadable but the footprint of an infant changes as the child develops. Q.   What is included in DNA LifePrint™ Kit?

Q.   How long does it take to obtain a DNA sample using DNA LifePrint™?
A.   The entire procedure takes less than 2 minutes.
     
Q.   How does DNA LifePrint™ work?
A.   The DNA is collected by simply swabbing the inside of ones cheek for several seconds with the swab provided in the kit. The swab is then inserted into the fixative solution contained in the kit's vial. The vial is placed in a specially developed red envelope that filters out ultra violet light and it is maintained in a safe place at room temperature where it can be preserved for generations.

A.   The DNA sample obtained with the DNA LifePrint™ last from generations to generation. There is no time limit for DNA LifePrint™.
     
Q.   What is DNA?
A.   A (Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid) is a genetic blueprint which contains all the hereditary iformation/instructions for the structure and function of the body. DNA is made of a linear sequence designated by four letters, A,G,C. and T. that "spell out" its information, just as a sequence of the 26 letter of the alphabet spell out words.

Q.   How would DNA LifePrint™ be used in a missing child's case?
A.   DNA LifePrint™ can provide the DNA needed for comparative analysis with the evidence obtained in resolving a case. DNA can be obtained by finding perspiration on a pillow, an eyelash, hairbrush with hair, a used Kleenex, a pacifier that has been used or any body fluid. DNA trace evidence verified by comparing it to DNA LifePrint™ sample can serve as an immediate way for authorities to locate and safely return an individual.
     
Q.   Is DNA LifePrint™ effective in providing DNA Samples?
A.   Validity studies prove that DNA LifePrint™ is 100% reliable in obtaining a sample. In fact the studies yielded that the least amount of DNA found in a sample was 1000 nanograms (this probably means that the individual put the cotton swab in their mouth for just a second) and the greatest amount obtained was 7,80 nanograrns. All that is needed to do the analysis is 3/4 of 1% of 1000 nanograms.
